More people than you might think suffer from hearing loss.
According to a recent study, 10% of the world's population has some degree of hearing loss; of those, about 10% require medical treatment, and 90% of people with hearing loss need to wear hearing aids.
However, only 5% of the people who actually need hearing aids are wearing them.
Having trouble hearing is no longer something to be ashamed of.
Just as people with declining eyesight wear glasses or contact lenses to prevent their vision from deteriorating further, people who experience difficulties due to hearing loss should wear hearing aids to prevent their hearing from deteriorating further and to lead normal social lives.
Hearing Loss Classification
Hearing loss is classified as follows, depending on its cause.
Conductive hearing loss
Hearing loss caused by damage to the outer or middle ear can result from excessive earwax, otitis media, a perforated eardrum, or otosclerosis.
Sensorineural Hearing Loss
It occurs when there is a problem with the inner ear—specifically, the cochlea or the auditory nerve—and includes age-related hearing loss, noise-induced hearing loss, congenital hearing loss, and sensorineural hearing loss.
Mixed Hearing Loss
This refers to a case where the two types of hearing loss mentioned above are combined; it typically occurs when a condition such as otitis media worsens and damages the inner ear.

Hearing Aids
A hearing aid is a device that amplifies sound to match the hearing ability of a person with hearing loss, thereby compensating for their hearing loss.
It picks up sound through a microphone, converts it into electrical sound energy, amplifies that energy, and then converts it back into sound.
Precautions Before Using Hearing Aids
Any ear conditions that could affect the use of a hearing aid must be treated before you start using the hearing aid.
Furthermore, since hearing aids can be used effectively based on each individual’s specific degree of hearing loss, it is very important to receive an accurate prescription from a specialist and wear a hearing aid that is appropriate for your hearing.
